Interview with Frost

[aNouC] hi frost !
[Frost] Hey ana, lets interview it up!
[Frost] haha
[aNouC] that will be hard..
[Frost] just playing :p

[aNouC] well, could you introduce yourself please? :>
[Frost] Hi I'm Frost, I'm 23 (old), from the Bay Area in California.. I
have a B.S. in Business Administration, and I play CS and Q3UT woot wooo
[Frost] I'm also a celebrated esports journalist, celebrated by myself :D

[aNouC] well uve got a reputation in the states; but in europe we would
like to know u better. Lets start in ur journalist side, for example

[Frost] I think the reputation I have is, uh actually a bad one. I tend
to be very competetive and very serious, which leads to some pretty heated
outbursts from time to time (when my clan is competing)
[Frost] Many from the US probably remember my public verbal ownings of
Teamplay.net staff for incompetence, favoritsm or simply for being stupid.

[aNouC] maybe, but actually u write in www.esports-america.com as a
columnist, no ? what are ur texts about ? u like to talk about polemic
things ? how the people accept ur points of view ?

[Frost] Yes I do, I'm the type of person that gets very intense when he
is presented with something he is interested in.
[Frost] Gaming, and writing I approached very intensely, for a few months
I did almost nothign but do articles for Esports-America, mostly weapon's
guides and columns about the gaming community..
[Frost] I did tend to attack various problems I saw in the gaming
community or how things are handled in the gaming community..
[Frost] I've always felt it was my responsibility to protest or speak up
when I thought things were not right.. (refresh back to Teamplay.net
official bashing)
[Frost] I think in general, people embrace my point of view, if they
don't agree with me, I think they can atleast see where I'm coming from and
hopefully understand what the big fuss is about

[aNouC] a very interesting thing are your guides for counter strike.. talk
me about them, what you can learn with them, and why u did it :>

[Frost] The CS weapons guides were immensely popular according to our web
tracking software.. WOO :D
[Frost] A tremendous ammount of work went into writing them, even though
they dont seem very long lengthwise.. I researched almost every weapon that
I wrote about.. tying in the real-life weapon and the one in
Coutner-Strike..
[Frost] One of the great things about Counter-Strike is the tie to
realism, and I thought it was a great way to stir up interest in the game as
well as my article..
[Frost] I wrote the article primarily because I have been helping a lot
of my Q3 friends learn CS and I was getting tired of repeating the same
conversations over and over :D

[aNouC] yes please, give me all this links, so our readers can check it
too

[Frost] sure thing..
[Frost] (scroll up :DD)
[aNouC] (lazy :P)
[Frost] (hah finem hangon)
[Frost]
http://www.esports-america.com/articles.phtml?id=111044&language=en
[Frost] The first article i did (the one i pasted above)
[Frost] is a pistol guide, that basically talks about all the CS pistols,
and how I like to use them during the very important pistol rounds..
[Frost]
http://www.esports-america.com/articles.phtml?id=111841&language=en
[Frost] The second guide i did was the Shotgun and SMG guide, that
briefly goes over the wait let me think... SHOTGUNS AND SMGS :DD
[Frost] vertran players may not have as much use for it as novices, but
might want to give it a read just for giggles
[Frost]
http://www.esports-america.com/articles.phtml?id=113632&language=en
[Frost] The third and final guide is the Rifle guide, which focuses on my
favorite CS weapons..
[Frost] The rifle guide is the most lengthy, and contains a lot of
amusing annectdotes about the real weapons (atleast amusing to me)
[Frost] many of the styles of bursting i learned from watching clanbase
cs eurocup demos

[aNouC] good, lot of work, im sure many people will apreciate your links,
thx :)
[Frost] np

[aNouC] so ur very active in the scene as a writer, but what about your
gaming side ? what do you play, and where ?

[Frost] Well let me be very honest here ana..
[Frost] I went to cpl world, and watched almost ever game as it
happened.. (i had a great time btw)
[Frost] but I'm not your cpl world material hehe
[Frost] I play Counter-Strike mostly recreationally, I play with my clan
Zero Five Zero, most of the guys I know from clan Prediction..
[Frost] Right now ZFZ has just started scrimming, and we're just starting
to put together strategies and tactics for all the most played maps..

[aNouC] but that clan was somehow inactive, and now is starting again..
[aNouC] ah thats it =)
[Frost] Although we are all individually talented, we've got a long ways
to go to get anywhere near the coordination it takes to be a top CPL team :D
[Frost] My focus lately has been getting ZFZ active, and by active I mean
5+ scrims a day :D

[aNouC] u think youll be a top clan soon ? or u already are ?
[Frost] It's really hard to say we hope to be a good clan, but we realize
it will take a lot of work even with our individual skills, CS is a game
that requires a lot of practice time..
[Frost] If you don't have the teamplay skills it takes a while to learn..
[Frost] and that's exactly what we have to learn, every single attack
route, or covering point

[aNouC] which clans are for you the hardest to face in next CPL events ?
[Frost] I will say though, that watching demos
[Frost] of European clans like SOA (cheer) and SK (cheer4ana'sclan) u
learn a lot of strategies REALLY fast
[Frost] dont dismiss DoP, TSO, Doctors (hi2wom,rev,george) just to list a
few
[Frost] LND did great at the last WCG, they are canadian

[aNouC] hehe, do you gonna take part in european CPLs's too ? coz the
european clans move to biggest events there....... but i dont know about x3
or some other tope clans coming here.....
[Frost] I'm not sure we will be attending the next CPL as a team, we
havent planned on it yet.. but going from my experience watching all the
teams play.. I have a feeling you will want to watch out for Nip (now added
a bonus Xqetr), X3, and possibly some of the German top teams if they show
up.. I've been watching some demos of German team's... OWNAGE
[Frost] If we do decide to compete in CPL we will probably start in
Dallas first..

[aNouC] some favourite player ?
[Frost] to watch?
[aNouC] yes, or some idol maybe ? :P
[Frost] my favorite players to watch would have to be firstly people I
know, wombat is the only one that sends me demos
[Frost] he's a great player, and a good friend.
[Frost] on the European side
[Frost] there are a TON of great players
[Frost] that i like watching
[Frost] allanon, sebo, all of Nip
[Frost] gladiator from dkh
[Frost] i dont know how to spell a lot of these guys
[Frost] names
[aNouC] hehe
[Frost] i just remember their demos :D

[aNouC] u know some spanish clan ?
[Frost] ive seen a few spanish demos
[Frost] but i dont remember names
[Frost] most of the demos i download
[Frost] are from clanbase
[Frost] or xsreality
[aNouC] well there is a big gaming level in Germany....
[Frost] theres this one spanish girl who has good demos
[Frost] her name is...
[Frost] ana?
[aNouC] o_O
[Frost] dunno she seems too interested in ra3 though
[aNouC] haha fu, i play mostly TDM
[Frost] hah
[Frost] not when i see u play :p

[aNouC] talking about girls.. u wrote some columns about it too
[aNouC] and being so hard against fakes :)
[Frost] yes i did, guilty as charged

[aNouC] why there are not more girls playing ?
[Frost] why aren't there more girls playing? hmm thats a tough question,
well firstly theres a lot of things you have to overcome as a female player
[Frost] first of all, you have to hang around with the guys u have to
play with, who sometimes lack social skills
[Frost] if u put 30 horny male quake players in a chatroom
[Frost] with 1 female player
[Frost] i garantee in 30 seconds there will be 1 sexual comment or
innuendo made
[aNouC] hah indeed
[Frost] another problem
[Frost] is what I like to call locker room syndrome
[Frost] when guys are together, the languange gets foul, and the
conversation does too
[Frost] girls that play games gotta have a thick skin, and not be
bothered by it.
[Frost] perhaps the foulest chatroom on earth
[Frost] is #prediction on irc.enterthegame.com
[Frost] those guys are sickos
[aNouC] really ? haha
[Frost] i dont know what their problem is
[aNouC] well so.. ur a complete person, and now we know ya better so...
[aNouC] wish u so many luck in the new ZFZ project
[Frost] ok thx :D
[aNouC] btw u can greet someone now
[Frost] hmm
[Frost] too many to greet so.. hi to #prediction u bunch of sickos and
everyone else out there :p
[Frost] oh yeah
[aNouC] ok nice :D
[Frost] HI BGC
[aNouC] yeeeeeesh ;) thx
[aNouC] cu soon :P
